VooZoo helps Paramount build video snacking library

Filed under: Tech — Brij @ 6:11 pm

Paramount Pictures will become the first major studio to make thousands of movie clips available for use on the internet, launching its VooZoo application Monday on Facebook

Check out some screenshots from Facebook app. It has gaming component (users get points) as well shopping angle (with buy DVD option). Sharing options are very limited. It only allows users to push video to their friend’s profile page. YouTube angle is surprisingly absent.

This app is perfect for Slide and Rockyou. They know how to create blingable experience widgets. VooZoo should facilitate blinging by allowing personalization of these clips.

You can install VooZoo using this url – zoo/

This is how it shows up on Facebook profile –

( On a side note – web 2.0 companies should start using NPR standard tag line now – “Please also let us know where you live and how to pronounce your name”)

Update: Washington Post does follow up on initial announcement:

Derek Broes, Paramount’s executive vice president for digital entertainment, got the idea about a year ago, when he began using Facebook. He saw the popular network as “voyeuristic” and a “zoo of people,” he said yesterday, which gave him the idea for the name VooZoo.
