Though not in the Bay Area to attend TIE event but I can still imagine the energy and am able to read interesting one-liners from the panelists.
Thanks to Zoli who did a great job of putting the session on his blog I can read what leading web2.0 experts are talking about. (I should say thanks to Web 2.0 for this ?)
That aside following exchange stands out for me:
Q: How do I use my “old” transactional data in a wiki-type environment?
Jeff Clavier: Integration layers, RSS ..etc.
Charlene: RSS Transport, open formats… Business managers can pick data, make his/her own “application”.
Q: (more a remark): Microformats: great, but not enough standards agreed upon.
Charlene: Give it a little time …
Charlene nailed it by refering to the old dictum - “over-hyped in short run and under-hyped in the long run”.
Enterprise adoption is just few years away. Kids who are using MySpace for homework are not going to sit on SAP interface to do things the way their parents did.
