Email is dead, long live email!

So much action around email in last couple of days  -

Yahoo giving a mind boggling valuation to Zimbra. Though this has nothing to do with the open source. Zimbra got lucky in being there at the right time as big boys are getting desperate to re-arrange their online collaboration portfolio. Crazy valuation is all about Zimlets!

TripIt and Xobni made it to TechCrunch40. (I am using TripIt and looks like this app I will end up using again in the future)

Mozilla launching internet mail and communications initiative by spinning off Thunderbird as a new company. Om predicted “smart inbox” evolution and apparently they are moving in that direction. I think it’s a great move and more innovation will help overall market.
