Gladwell! Your tipping point is biased in favor of ex-Googlers
FriendFeed is a very useful service. Attention aggregation services are more useful compared to first generation RSS aggregators. They allow new conversations to expand streaming experience. There is a business out there if FriendFeed can establish early lead, the way Bloglines and Newsgator did during RSS aggregation time. Window to achieve critical mass is frighteningly small. That’s where A-listers help.
Talking about A-listers, few weeks ago I was joking with a friend of mine on how he should donate his “Google employee” status to some up and coming startup. There is definitely a big PR premium for startups who can flaunt “ex-Googler” label. Lot of that is justified but en-masse PR rush towards these startupsis not healthy. IMHO.
Lesson for budding entrepreneurs- either join one of these hot companies or be friendly with somebody who can be lend his “ex-” status down the road.
