Open source cinema

Swarm of Angel project team has updated the website. Now the focus is on spreading the message. I became angel for this group few months back to understand if the notion of  “open source cinema” is even feasible. If you are not sure what this project is then this is a brief overview from their website:

“A groundbreaking project to create a £1 million film and give it away to over 1 million people using the Internet and a global community of members. By subscribing for £25 members become part of a revolutionary process to make an open source feature film”

As a concept this project has legs. In future lot of creative content oriented project will be using some variation of this model to scale their Indie projects. Developing content with the explicit goal of remixing is something we will be seeing more and more. This is equivalent to source code developed for mash-up applications.
