Advertisement dollar is moving from non-measurable to measurable media. Well this list is the the best example of that. These are fascinating numbers. Precision in number of views and related conversational metrics are total delight for media planners. Though much of this is subject to regular gaming but overall this is a great advancement in video measurement.
I was also interested in number of blogs and comments. It would be nice if there is a similar chart for commenting speed. Something to convey community momentum. It would be useful to know comments/hour metric for each of these videos. What would be really really cool is to set alerts for certain level of comments/hour. If comments/hour reaches 50 then email me. Then I can not only follow viral videos but also gather around most vibrant community in near real time.
I did quick sorting of blog numbers to figure out most popular blog destinations for these viral videos. Check this chart.
Clearly Blogspot leads by wide margin. Wordpress.com doesn’t allow object code embedding (iPhone-type security excuse which sounds really lame to me. MessageDance provides richer video distribution model and allows redirect from Wordpress.com). Surprisingly Typepad is not that favorite for video sharing.
Hattip to Viral Video Chart for all these wonderful stats.
